Your Rush Limbaugh Echo for Tuesday, 2/9/10
Student NOTES from Institute juniors, not 'official'
Open: If Obama can lower the seas, can he stop snows?
_____________________________________________________________
Segment#1: Have you noticed "Snowmageddon" ?
And the Global Warmers continue on as if nothing is happening.
Kathleen Sebelius wants California private business to answer why they are raising rates on healthcare. Most Americans are more concerned with the Obama Adm raises in government spending and expansion.
Obama Adm opens a new NOAA office to investigate Climate Change (read Global Warming) but they had do delay because of snow storms in D.C.
((Montage of Bush poll numbers from the past.)) They broadcast in DbM every hour. ((Montage of crickets in CNN Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer)) That's right, nothing as Obama poll numbers plunging.
Instead this ((Clip: Sarah Palin writes cheat-sheets on her hand.)) They are beside themselves. Perky Katie Couric played more from her Superbowl interview with Obama. ((Clip-Obama: Nobody said these things when my approval numbers were high. Average working-Mom out their, husband out of work, retirement funds cut in half, and a pollster calls, why shouldn't you be unhappy?)) So he is half-way admitting it.
>>> Why shouldn't President Obama admit Americas are unhappy.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#2: Republicans did good with details in their Letter / Stay firm!
Eric Cantor and John Boehner sent a letter to Rahm Emmanuel and the tone indicates a new approach in dealing with The One, the manchild.
Is the "Era of McCain" over?
Obama is just making a show and will not start over. They will continue to work with the Democrat proposals in the House and the other one in the Senate. Good Republicans know it is nothing more than a trick.
((Reading: We welcome dialog. In May he declined and chose to work only with Democrats. They worked on the premise that the more Americans learned, the more they would like it. Just the opposite happened. . . . Work on jobs. Does his invitation mean he is willing to start over. Kathleen Sebelius indicated he will not start over. Etc. Has he taken off the table working only with Democrats and jamming through what results? Where is the good faith intentions to Republicans and the American people? Will he make what results available to the public 72 hours before any vote? Etc. Will dissenting Democrats be allowed to speak? Will Republicans be allowed to invite experts in medicine and healthcare be allowed in to testify?)) So they are throwing it right back to Obama.
One thing they left out of their letter is that Obama has no bill [text].
D-NE Ben Nelson has joined the opposition due to SEIU special deal. The letter is directed to that hot-head Rahm Emmanuel. I like that. It points out all the lies and distortion. Fool me once; but you will not fool me twice.
>>> Republicans need to be very, very careful to keep up opposition.
Rush notes that if Republicans write this firm letter and then cave later, it will set the tinderbox of "third-party" into motion.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#3: American people need to tell Republicans to stand firm
((Satire clip of 'W' teaching ObaMa pronunciation on corpse-men. Etc.))
We never stop learning: I met Miss Wright once, but I didn't learn
until later that her first name is Always . . . always right. ;-)
Republicans have struck a nerve with the Cantor-Boehner letter when they called Obama's dog-and-pony show. The WH reply letter is passive-aggressive.
There is nothing in the House or Senate version that has anything near a Republican fingerprint on it. If I were Cantor and Boehner, I would say, "You can meet with other Republicans, but I am not showing up." Republican additions don't have to meet Obama's goals. WH wanted a rejection, but saying, "No, hell-no" is a winner with the American people.
To say this president is objective is an insult to intelligence. The American people have already walked away from this convoluted legislation.
>> The American people have already walked away from this bill;
>>> It is time now to convince Republicans to walk away also.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#4: Billboard says: "Miss me yet?" George W. Bush standing there
Instead of six hours on C-Span with Obama dog-and pony show,
è Let's have a debate: with Me, Paul Ryan, and throw Levin in there.
è On the other side you have Obama, Pelosi, and Reid.
And a non-DbM moderator. Let the chips fall where they may.
Obama says again that giving civilian rights to Fruit-of-Kaboom-Bomber is no different than what Bush did.
Caller-MT-WY: Yes, there is a billboard "Miss me yet?" Bush; We love it!
There is one also in Louisiana.
>>> We don't know yet who is putting up the pro-Bush billboards.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#5: From the Hill Newspaper, http://TheHill.com
"Democrats point finger of blame at Rahm Emmanuel." Is that so?
Who hired Rahm Emmanuel? Obama did! They are one and the same.
Rahm Emmanuel does the bidding of Obama and his handlers.
>>> I just hope I don't have to do another satire on "f-ing retards".
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#6: Drive-by Media refuses to report plummeting Obama numbers
(Theme Music) "I think Rahm ran the plays that Obama called", says one unnamed Democrat. Read TheHill.com and learn.
From a radio station in DC ((Reading: As many as 60 snowplows are not working, 25%, and it is bad news for some but good news for those that want to stay home.)) Would a private industry company just sit there with snow predicted?
L.A.Times Andrew Malcolm write in the "Top of the News" blog ((Reading: The House minor-leagues has Puchinski in the 41st ward. The Chicago Daley Machine didn't care about Obama before as long as he was quiet. Now that the sun has risen, many observers see DC run in a similar way as Chicago, smelly-wild-onion, (Indian word meaning Chicago.) The smell is off the rose.))
Obama numbers are plummeting and DbM is refusing to report. Go back to 2005 and Senator Obama says this ((Clip: The president has been on his 60 day tour and people don't like his agenda. If he would just let go with his Ego: I have been on the other side with my wife. He should just let go on privatatization of Social Security.)) Bush wanted to allow citizens to put a small percentage into their own portfolio. Obama should talk his own advice.
((Clip-Michelle-my-Belle: My husband has done been phenomenal job of staying the course.)) Who's making fun of Hope and Change? Could that be me? ((Clip-on: It is a constant struggle; you just keep holding the hand out.)) With a middle finger extended? ((Clip-on: You keep that smile on your face; Keep open for cooperation. It's his gift.)) What is she suggesting here?
>>> You have to be in the Welfare State to take the handout.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#7: Rush encourages a caller to think outside the box
Chi-ka-ko sounds very similar to macaca (drove George Allen out).
Caller-PA: Companies try more to hire from overseas (than me, w/MBA.)
What do you really want to do? [Discussion] Why don't you do this: start small, find some company X and offer yourself as a consultant. Just get one. Consult them in positive ways. Then ramp up (as you continue teaching.)
I'm making it sound easy but you are in the consulting business so you know.
>>> Just get one positive reference and then you can 'write your ticket'.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#8: Rush instructs on finding your passion, then opportunity
Even Greenspan says tax increases are the worst thing we could do now.
From Iowa, Frank Magid was a consultant to radio show hosts and their stations. He started small. I don't know why stations listened to him, but they did.
Caller should phone up Toyota and consult them on PR. With times as tough as they are, they are looking for the good ideas. Put together plans to operate under any contingency.
You might come up with plans to move to Germany, Costa Rica, etc., if the Obama plans come to fruition.
John, most of the limitations are those that people place on themselves.
Just a wild guess: you know these people that send a jet to take you where you want to go? You buy a quarter share in their company. Reason they work this way is to keep track of their competition. You can see where they are flying. There are all kinds of opportunity out there:
>>>>> Let your passion be your guide.
Success is when preparation meets opportunity.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#10: Felony charges are brought against VA college kids.
Snowball throwing charges have been made against the students.
Were they Mirandized? Did Republicans know about it prior?
>>> If only we were this serious about Jihadists/Terrorism.
_____________________________________________________________
Segment#11: Stand up and tell the truth about deceptions
(Music) President Obama hasn't had a press conference since July, and so today he walked in and highjacked the WH press corpse-man mtg from Gibbs. One reporter told the truth in a question from me: Small businesses are holding back because they are not sure of your direction/taxes. Obama said, "No, no, no — it is because they can't get loans and I will fix that." Every small business owner needs to hear that.
Then he is encouraged to start over (entirely) on healthcare. ((Clip: I asked to see ideas. I'm going to be starting from scratch in the sense that ideas can come in.)) [Rush is laughing.] ((Clip-Obama: What the American people do not want to see is another year of partisan rangling.))
Stop the tape: there has not been rangling except on the Democrat side. Republicans have been excluded. You Republicans need not be timid! Scott Brown came in from MA to stop this ObamaCare.
((Clip-Obama: Bipartisanship can't be that I agree with all they believe in, and they accept nothing I want. There has got to be some give from their side.)) What give? It is solely two Democrat plans. The only Republican option is to join you in your trick. They had better not do it.
This is Saul Alinsky pathological.
Are you saying the bill can't pass, he is asked. ((Clip-Obama: The public has soured on the process; that has got to change.)) No again, they are soured on YOU, Mr. President. And on Pelosi, Reid, and ObamaCare. ((Clip-on as Rush gets madder and madder. :: John Boehner said the status quo is not acceptable and that is promising.)) The status quo is you. That is what is not acceptable.
>>> The 'era of McCain' is over — Era of Reagan lives on.
Scott Brown represents standing up and saying, "You lie" like Joe Wilson.
_____________________________________________________________
S#12: The time of Leftist-Liberal-Socialists is done and they have to go
Looks like we are getting closer to finding out who put up Bush "Miss me yet?" and it looks like a group of small-business owners. They feel DC is against them.
Jake Taper questions Obama about uncertainty. ((Clip-Obama: Let's be clear about trillions of dollars lost in 401K coming out from previous decade. They are unsure about getting loans. Most small business have enough customers if they can get a loan to make payroll.)) He has no clue! You don't borrow to make payroll. How in the world can he say they have enough customers?
You don't borrow to make payroll; you lay people off. You build when you are successful. Folks, the sheer ignorance, combined with cockiness and arrogance is unbelievable! You small business people listen to it again, President of the United States telling you that you are wrong. ((Clip-again: Their biggest problem is they cannot get bank credit, and they are not sure about building inventory. If they can get the loans to make payroll, they will do so.)) Sad.
You go into a bank and say, "I want to make payroll. Can you give me a loan?" They will say, "That is not how it works. Build your business first and then we will give you your loan to expand." This is how the Mortgage Meltdown happened.
Caller-youth: How can I protect my future?
Let me play President Obama if you didn't hear. He was asked about businesses expanding. ((Clip again)) The sheer ignorance of that is breathtaking. Your future is dependent on Liberal Democrats being voted out of power. You will face even larger obstacles if that doesn't happen. Debt and taxes will impede you. They are trying to destroy the private sector.
>>> Their time is done and they have to go [Echoes of Sarah Palin.]
_____________________________________________________________
Segment#13: Ronald Reagan Conservatism won Landslides
There is no substitute for grass-roots in campaigns. ACORN cannot overcome a massive surge like in Massachusetts for Scott Brown. [Rush is reading from Paulette, a youth, quoted in American Thinker. Join Ask.Heritage.com]
Liberals in both parties will tell us "Get rid of Palin" when they fear her most.
N-Post writes about Independents leaving Obama in droves. It is the Maris Poll and DbM won't report it. What is buried in this poll is that McCain lost Independents. It was the first time since 1972. The Independents are now coming back home.
Tell me again how Maverick McCain was going to win the Election.
>>> The era of McCain is over — The era of Reagan is alive.

Caller-gal: I own a small business of ten years; you are right.
Obama says you don't know your own business. It is dangerous.
Caller-still: I have to put aside my feelings of uncertainty. Do my best.
[Avoid debt like the plague, said a modern-day prophet.]
>>> Be aware there are people doing all they can to block your success.

From the Rush Limbaugh Morning Update: "Shell Game"
| Looky here, folks. The New York Times has given the Obama administration a public heads up that they're ticking off their friends. The Times reports that last election cycle, Democrats hauled in almost $90 million in donations from their Wall Street buddies. JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon is one of them. So is the vice chairman, William Daley -- transition advisor to Obama and head of the Daley clan that has ruled Chicago for ages. But this year, JPMorgan Chase has turned down donation requests from Democrat House and Senate campaigns, while instead giving thirty grand to Republicans. Morgan Stanley executive Thomas Nides admits he's a huge Obama supporter. But he told the Times: "Even if you are a big fan, when you are the pinata at the party, it doesn't really feel good." Another exec -- unnamed because he fears retribution (smart guy) -- complained to the Times that Democrats believe they can kick financial executives around and still get donations. He says Wall Street isn't "going to play that game anymore." But the money quote is from an unnamed lobbyist. "If the president wanted to turn every Democrat on Wall Street into a Republican, he's doing everything right," he says. The dirty truth is, Democrats have forever portrayed themselves as "for the little guy," and Republicans as "for the rich." But now, Obama's class warfare is even too much for big Democrat donors to abide. And so, at long last, my friends, thanks to Obama, the Democrats' shell game is coming to an end. |

Quote Gems from Rush Limbaugh dot com:
| "I just learned this. George W. Bush has been in the White House teaching President Obama to pronounce words." "When he says he's going to focus on jobs, it doesn't mean he's focusing on jobs. It means he's going to mention it. 'Focus' simply means 'mention' to Obama, because he's obviously not focused." "For true football fans, there's nothing that matters until September now. It's bad news." "The Republicans have got to be very, very careful here because this invitation to talk with Obama is nothing more than a trap." "Have confidence, my fellow Republicans, that there is no where near a majority of people that want Obama's health care. A clear majority of people do not want it, and they stopped it. That's where the bipartisanship is." "True bipartisanship here is to say 'no' to Obama's health care bill. Republicans, independents and Democrats across the country are opposed to this. That's where the bipartisanship is, if you care about it. If you Republicans go along with this, it's going to be squandering such an opportunity." "'Bipartisanship' simply means Republicans compromising their core beliefs to agree with Democrats. There is never talk of bipartisanship with the Democrats giving up everything. It's always everybody joining them or caving to meet them." "Obama has not presented a plan. He does not have his own sheaves of paper that he can throw out and say, 'No, right here in my plan on page 2,940 it says you can keep your insurance plan.' There is no Obama plan." "For those of you Republicans in the House (and the Senate for that matter), the goal is to get our message out there and do it repeatedly and effectively right up to Election Day."
"I'm not a hype guy. I'm not a conventional wisdom guy. I run the other way on whatever the conventional wisdom is, and the conventional wisdom was Colts by two touchdowns. I love being a maverick renegade in these things. Plus I was objectively analyzing it based on my look at the game." |
| "The White House continues to operate on the assumption that the American people would support the plan, it's just that Obama hasn't explained it well enough. The American people have a great idea what's in this plan from across the political spectrum, and they don't want it!" "They have a stalker at CNN who does nothing but follow me around, Carol Costello. She's a figurative stalker. She's not actually tried to get in my gate...yet." "Republicans want to start from scratch on health care and Obama wouldn't do it." "Real scientists had better join the group of people demanding these global warming guys be held accountable because they are perverting and destroying the perception of every scientist out there." "All these years it doesn't count what I say because I'm 'just an entertainer.' Now, all of a sudden, I can't do satire 'cause I'm not an entertainer, 'cause I don't go to 'Caroline's comedy club,' quote, Whoopi Goldberg." "Sarah Palin just drives the left nuts. Like all of us, she just turns it all right back on them. She makes fun of them, and you're not supposed to do that. Their mission is too important! Their mission is too sacred. You can't make fun of them. No way!" "Sarah Palin knows, like Reagan, that simplicity and optimism is really all that's needed for America to turn around." "For those of you that weren't alive or weren't paying attention, the amazing thing was that inflation came down while the economy was growing as a result of Reagan's huge, across-the-board tax cuts." "We find ourselves with Jimmy Carter. His second term is unfolding right before our very eyes, although much worse. Carter was a bumbling idiot. This guy knows exactly what he's doing." |

The Lassitude of John Brennan
February 9, 2010 Posted by Scott at 6:27 AM
In August Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism John Brennan gave a speech outlining the administration's deep thoughts on combating terrorism. The speech -- "A New Approach for Safeguarding Americans" -- "conveniently outlined the administration's present and future policy mistakes," in the words of Daniel Pipes.
If you seek a handy compilation of the shibboleths that now guide our approach to the phenomenon formerly known as Islamist terrorism, Brennan's speech is must reading. To take one example cited by Pipes, Brennan rejects any connection between "violent extremism" and Islam: "Using the legitimate term jihad, which means to purify oneself or to wage a holy struggle for a moral goal, risks giving these murderers the religious legitimacy they desperately seek but in no way deserve." Any connection between Islam and Islamist terrorism is purely coincidental. While Brennan's take on jihad may be a big hit in Obama's White House, it is not exactly authoritative.
Pipes also captured the tone of Obama worship in which the speech is pitched: "Disturbingly, Brennan ascribes virtually every thought or policy in his speech to the wisdom of the One. This cringe-inducing lecture reminds one of a North Korean functionary paying homage to the Dear Leader." You might say that Obama and Brennan worship at the same shrine.
Pipes concluded with a reasonable prediction: "Implementation of the inept policies outlined by Brennan spells danger for Americans, American interests, and American allies. The bitter consequences of these mistakes soon enough will become apparent."
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ [A lot more here for you to read and ponder .!.]
UPDATE: Brennan must be exhausted. He has converted his MTP talking points into a USA Today column. Brennan shows how an Obamian philospher king deals with these serious matters, as Byron York notes in "People who criticize us are helping al Qaeda" and as Ed Morrissey notes in "Our critics are helping al Qaeda."
Brennan rests his straw men in part on then-Attorney General Michael Mukasey's September 2008 Guidelines for Domestic FBI Operations. Mukasey, however, begs to differ. As one might infer from the title of the guidelines, Mukasey explains that the decision to provide Miranda warnings to the Christmas Day bomber and classify him as a criminal defendant do not follow from them.
Mukasey told Bill McGurn: "First, the guidelines Mr. Brennan refers to involve intelligence gathering. They do not deal with whether someone in custody is to be treated as a criminal defendant or as an intelligence asset. Second, as for gathering intelligence, it begs the whole question about whether he [Abdulmutallab] should have been designated a criminal suspect. And there is nothing--zero, zilch, nada--in those guidelines that makes that choice. It is a decision that ought to be made at the highest level, and the heads of our security agencies have testified that it was made without consulting them."
One more timely column addresses Brennan's remarkable performance as a spin merchant on behalf of the Obama administration. In "Miranda wrongs," Ralph Peters locates the source of Brennan's lassitude in the same place I do.
Miss Me Yet?
February 8, 2010 Posted by John at 9:14 PM
The big story out of Minnesota these days is a billboard on Interstate Highway 35 in or near Wyoming, which is a little north of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Highway 35 is the main North-South artery in this area, going north to Duluth and south to Des Moines. It was the Highway 35 W bridge across the Mississippi which collapsed, you may recall, a couple of years ago.
Here is the billboard: [Graphic looks great; visit Powerline.com to see it.]
NPR confirms that the billboard is real and not "an internet trick." Beyond that, NPR seems baffled:
At first glance, it would seem to be from some person or group who isn't thrilled by President Barack Obama's performance so far -- unless it's a more ironic message from those who didn't think too much of Bush and want to remind voters about him.
Actually, that question and the accompanying photo have been common among some Republicans for a while now. There is no reason to believe the billboard is intended as an "ironic message." It will be interesting to find out who paid for the billboard; if it's someone local, in all likelihood we know him. In any event, the sentiment is one that is more widely shared by Americans every day.
UPDATE: The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that the billboard was paid for by a group of small business owners:
"It was put up by a group of small business owners -- who want to stay anonymous --because they felt Washington wasn't listening," said Mary McNamara, a spokeswoman for the company that owns the billboard. "They felt like it was a good way to get their message out."
Reports: Democrat Sen. Ben Nelson to oppose radical SEIU appointee; Update: SEIU e-mail coordination
By Michelle Malkin • February 9, 2010 05:04 AM
Scroll for updates…
I filled you in last October on Craig Becker, the radical SEIU lawyer whom President Obama nominated for a slot on the National Labor Relations Board.
Well, in the wake of his abominable health care takeover sellout, beleaguered Democrat Sen. Ben Nelson is reportedly joining the GOP opposition to Becker. The Massachusetts Miracle increases the chances of torpedoing Becker's nomination.
Via The Hill:
Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson (D) on Monday announced he would oppose Craig Becker's nomination to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) — a move that could ultimately scuttle Becker's confirmation indefinitely.
