Glenn Beck "Restore Honor" at Lincoln Memorial

Glenn Beck — Restoring Honor 8-28-2010     Lincoln Memorial

C-Span is covering live:  www.C-Span.org and also Beck Extreme; and Facebook.

Glen Beck welcomes everyone (we are watching live and via his website.)  "Laus Deo: Praise Be To God" is at the top of the Washington Monument.  Hosted by SOWF, Special Operations Warriors Foundation.  "Where are the Lincolns, the Washingtons, of today.  They are among us.  [Glenn is reading his inspired writing.]  Unless we teach our children, unless we challenge ourselves, we will not grow the next Abraham Lincoln, the next George Washington.  Faith, Hope, Charity: begin to pledge today to restore Honor.

A Boy Scout leads "The Pledge of Allegiance" to the flag of the United States of America, followed by applause and singing the national anthem. [It is a very talented small group: two White gals, a Black beauty and a handsome Black American guy.  They were fantastic;  and some in the audience sang along, always a good thing.]  "I brought you the blackboard", "Ladies and Gentlemen, Glenn Beck !"

"I have just gotten word from the media that there are over a thousand people here today.  I am humbled."  This area holds 250,000 and this area to the side 300,000 and they are both filled and going back into the streets.  We turn back to God and something [great] is happening today.  This is a turning point.   [Over 130,000 watch on Facebook.]

5,000 people, on the other side of the planet, God's people were lead out of bondage.  At the same side of the planet another group of people listened to God.  They came together.  The native American people and the Pilgrims.  [Costumes on stage.]  Pastor is a direct descendant of those coming on the Mayflower.  The first thing they did was pray together.  [Pastor gives a passionate prayer:  You are the King of the Earth;  all nations belong to you.]  [[He is in a suit with a flag-tie; and the beautiful couple is dressed in native American costume, so great.]]  "You, Oh God, called us to repentance when we broke the treaty with native Americans;  but you are a God of Repentance."  "You will honor those, that honor you!  We once again say, "God Bless America."

Glenn:  When my son said to me: "No he's not, Dad"; reading David and Goliath; "because he doesn't fly or have a cape" is when I realized we need to explain true heroes to our youth.

On the top of the list of things that we trust:  Our USA Military.  It is their calling.

Special Operations Warrior Foundation [money for this event goes to them]
President of SOWF John Carney (USAF retired)  We lost men in an Iraq rescue. Those brave men left behind 17 children, now one son is a surgeon.  Today we have 132 students and have 56 graduates. Caring Americans like you and Glenn Beck make this possible.   [[A Mom is invited to speak, "I know what Honor is: never, never break a promise."  In sixth grade, he wrote about honoring the Flag.]]  I've attached myself like a barnacle to the bottom of the SOWF ship.   Be generous: I'm holding out my heart. Each one of us is here to fill a mission;  please help us fulfill ours.  [Glenn hugs them.]]

Text to SOWF "85944" to send $10.  [ [ [    We did .!.   ] ] ]

Sarah Palin ::  (Western Music, and wild cheers)   Thank You so much;  are you not proud to be an America?  We stand among monuments of greatness.  We feel the spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr.  These giants were linked in the rock of America. Our Military is a force for good in the world, and that is nothing to apologize for.

[She is speaking passionately and referring from point-to-point to her notes, but never losing the audience from her smile and passion.  We Must Restore America, and Restore Her Honor .!. ]    I've been asked to speak, not as a politician but something more, much more.  I raised a combat Vet and you can't take that away from me.

No Mother gives birth thinking she will give her son or daughter over to combat.  But that is what many do. We honor those in distant lands, some never come home. We honor those who serve something greater than themselves.  Their Honor was never lost.  [Tells of three soldiers: Marcus Luttrell, 2005 Army;  Marine Eddy Wright; USAF Tom Kirk spent time in "Living Hell Hotel Hanoi Hilton" with John McCain and band of brothers.

Crowd breaks out with, "USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, . . .   .!.   . . ."  Their stories are America's stories: we will never give up.  A Hand always guided us to a brighter future.  May this day be the change point!  Look around you: you are not alone; you are Americans.   With gratitude, let's stand for them our Military, and lets stand together; God Bless America.

Glenn:  It is no longer enough to look at these brave soldiers [standing by the three] we must in addition stand up ourselves.

When I started to formulate this event it was [Conservative political].  [[Glenn tells the passionate story of drawing "Faith", "Hope", and "Charity" poster-portraits.  We knelt in prayer:  "Lord, I am one of your slower children: speak to me slowly" and the answer was, "You have all of the pieces, just put them together."  We changed to honor our Military and to restore Honor to America.

Three medals were given out to great Americans in the time of George Washington to civilians.  FDR designed the purple heart for soldiers based on that design.  Today, we return to honoring civilians so our children can see heroes to model their young lives upon.

Our first medal for Faith:  [music]   It is knowing and believing.  1775 and later Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr;  in 2001 the NYC WTC;  we rise above the evil;  faith in America and in our God lifted us;  but now, Faith is in short supply.  Can we (you and I) find that Faith.

Dr "Big Pond" native American presents the first medal :: "Faith" to TX Pastor Seal Jackson.  "Honor is a warrior capable of keeping promises."  We have a song, [says title in native American] "Always Look Forward; Never Look Back".  TX Governor Rick Parry appointed him to a commission; author of over 18 books; Etc.  He's 'planted' 19 churches just in the Houston area.  [Dr Big Pond relates how his Dad and other relatives fought in world wars in Europe.]  I also have a dream that over 365 tribes come out of the woodwork, out of the reservations, to give honor to God and America. [Heroic Music; medal bestowed;  applause in standing ovation.]

Pastor C. L. Jackson:  I call him servant of God, son of God, Glenn Beck.  Right over here, 45 years ago, I stood with a young man, Martin Luther King, Jr.  They promised us they would blow the bus up and we came anyway, "I Have a Dream".   God send His Son so we could all gather together.  What do we give back?  If Jesus stood right here, what would be expected of this audience.  There were three classical women that stood out in His ministry.  (1) Gave all she had, two mites and Jesus said, "Her name is written in the Book of Life" and will you?  (2) another anointed His feet, can you imagine? Jesus said, "She will be remembered  because she gave resurrection" before He had even died;   you can do that.  (3) another woman came in behalf of her sick daughter; Jesus said, "should I take the bread from the table of the chosen and give it to [a puppy]?"  And she said, "even the dog gets a crumb."  God fed me underneath the table.

[(music and video on center-big-screen:   Hope must be based on Truth.  Where have they gone?  Where are they that do the right thing even when no one is watching.  America the beautiful, the home of the brave:  the shining city on a hill for the world to see.  That is our Hope.]]   Mgr of St Louis Cardinal, Tony LaRussa.

LaRussa:  Inspiring what is happening today.  Recipient has honor, hope and truth.  Success is hard to earn, overcoming obstacles.  Albert Pujols, best known for his baseball career.  [Sounds like a USAF 'fly-over' in the distance.]

Albert Pujols:   I want to thank God for giving me this award and platform.  My wife and family are with me.  We praise God and share his Gospel. We support kids and adults with Downs Syndrome.  I also go back to Dominican Republic.  I made the best decision of my life to follow Jesus Christ.

[Soft piano music, with Glenn reading "Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor", which is America's charity.  That is love.  America was built on Charity.  It is in the Declaration of Independence:  "all men are created equal, endowed of God".  We all need support and compassion is the backbone of our nation, which came from families and churches.

Charity is not forced of tax deductable, but opening your heart and home in times of need.  Those in our Military help set man free.

For Charity the third of the three medals goes to:
Jon M. Huntsman, Sr, born in Blackfoot, Idaho, now in Utah. Lived in California while in HS.  He served in US Navy.  Married 50 years; nine children and 56 grandchildren;  active in his [LDS] church.  Among other things, his new companies created fast food containers.  His parents died of cancer and he is a cancer survivor.  He founded the University of Utah, Huntsman Cancer and Wellness Institute and donated millions.  He wrote the book, Winners Never Cheat and will give nearly all of his $2billion wealth to charity.   [[Another military aircraft flyover?]]

Glenn (to music)  Martin Luther King had a dream.  Many had run out of faith [video on big screen.]  He knew those with him could rise above the hate.  He only saw right and wrong.  He wanted everyone to have a seat at the table.  "We must not be guilty of wrong actions.  Love is the only way to invoke real change."  He had the Truth on his side.   His greatness was his faith in the American people. The Dream is not finished but continues.  "The Truth will set you free."  Look at a man's character, not the color of his skin.

[Video and Dr King speaking:  If America is to become a great nation this must become true:  Land of my Father's pride;  xxx]   Let me introduce a woman whose family is washed in blood.  She is at risk for standing here and saying what she believes.  Ladies and gentlemen, Dr Alvata King!

Dr King:   Praise the Lord.  He brings us together, not for politics but to "Restore Honor".  [She introduces pastors and vocalists]  Come on down, my friends.  How many of us know that we need to rebuild America?  And how many of you know that we need you to do it?  [Beautiful 'colored gal' begins singing solo.  She, truly, is more beautiful than movie stars. "We must rebuild.  So many are gone;  there must be a reason for me to be here;  I do not feel fear.  Leave all the brokenness behind; we must rebuild, with Change.  Etc.  We have to build our families back up;  stick together;  show the whole world. (repeat, repeat, repeat:  "Can we rebuild?"]   Thank You, Angelica.

Black young preacher reads a scripture and then the choral group sings Spirituals.  "Let's Walk Together In Unity";  "We are in a war against sin;  and a house divided [falls in]. Another scripture: Ephesians 4 (Paul) "Show tolerance one to another..."

Alveda King:  My parents were here to support Uncle Martin.  We all knew that August 28th would be an important day, ultimately about Love.  He stood in awe at what God was doing.  "If anyone will honor God, God will honor him."  Before honoring comes humility.  Uncle Martin came out from a roach-infested jail cell to focus on his calling. Today we honor people not afraid to give their lives for the freedom of others.

If he were here, Martin Luther King, Jr., would stand with us and encourage us.  We are one human family, yes. [applause].   47 years ago, Uncle Martin said it was a check on a bank nearly bankrupt.  Our sons and daughters [deserve better].  Marriage is being threatened, where is the fabric of our society?  Moral poverty:  yet Faith, Hope, and Charity are not dead in America.  We still have faith in God and America.   When will the 'check' be good?  We will know when will we have public prayer in the public square and in public schools.  Yes, I too have a dream.  [[She looks up at a third flyover.]]

I have a dream that White privilege will become Human privilege.  On that day we can pray for all of God's children.   [Angelica leads the singers:  Liberty.  Let our rejoicings rise;  to the skies;  let it resound like the rolling seas.]

[Video with message:  Man has always searched for a better way;   the bravest chart a course to a new world;  there was a power greater than  Man guiding them;  some stood for Faith;  some for Liberty;   some for Justice.    Standing tall, pledging their loves, honor and wealth so that others could [be America].  Sacrifice and courage, standing on the edge;   millions came from all over the world, risking all.   The world's last great hope:  remember who you are — remember who they are —  it is time to restore America. ]

Media now estimates either over 300,000 or over 50,000;   and if that is coming from the media then God-only-knows how many.

We have a choice today:  look at our scars, or look ahead to a great America.

Learn from the bad and then look for the good that can be before us.  The scars can crush us, or redeem us.  Abraham Lincoln was a giant of an American.  We stand in his shadow as he looks down on us.  We see on the other side of the mirror-pond the Washington Monument to another great American.

Look at the Washington Monument:  it changes color one-third up;  stones changed as they stopped for the Civil War.  At the top is "Praise Be to God".  I would sit here and watch the sun rise over Washington Monument.  Now, at the end of the reflecting pool we have the monument to veterans of WW II.  They had no choice:  they stood against Evil.   Also, the Vietnam War veterans, we welcome them home now (late welcome).

We are standing among giants and between, the reflecting pool.  Reflect on ourselves;  and what that man meant; and that man; and that man, Martin Luther King.  That is what the reflection is all about.  We are to reflect on what these great men did, giving their lives.

George Washington led the army in our war.   When it was over, they came knocking "We need you to help with our Constitution", and he said, "Have I not given enough?"  And he closed the door, going back to VA.  It is the great American experiment, if we can keep it.

[Glenn speaks passionately.]   It does not end here;  it does not end now;  It will not end in my generation ::  IT IS UP TO US   .!.   .!.   .!.

With tears]  I came here with my wife children, I wanted to spend time here with them.  I read the Gettysburg Address and held them up to tough the glass.  It is scripture and applies to us.   [Reading]   Dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.  Now, were are in a great war . . .  to see if this nation, or any nation, can long endure.

We are staying in the hotel where Martin Luther King, Jr, ended his ministry.  It is also where the Battle Hymn of the Republic was written.  [continuing reading]:  consecrated ground.  It is for us, the living, to be dedicated to the great task remaining.  We take greater dedication. THESE DEAD HAVE NOT DIED IN VAIN.   This nation shall not parish from this earth!

America is at a crossroads:  we must decide if those words stand.  Who are we?  Will we advance or perish?   I choose 'advance'.   America awakens again.  It occurs all through history:  we fall asleep and then wake up, from time to time.  It has from the burning bush: Moses, freedom, then they wander in the wilderness till they turn back to God.

In Egypt, they prayed for deliverance and Jehovah sent Moses with a stick.  Those bringing Freedom were just men—they were just like you!  [Glenn has modern handless mic and paces the stage, sometimes coming to the podium.]  Coming across the plains they relied on God.

America is not good just because God has chosen her — America is good and great because citizens are good and great.  Do your part.  Look ahead and dream about what we must become.   Look to God and make your choice.  [Glenn speaks more softly now.]  What you ponder is what you become.  What are you seeing in the reflecting pool.

[Passion again]   Do we no longer believe one man cannot make a difference.  I share this testimony:  you make the difference.  Pick up your 'stick' and stand.  Too many Americans wait for someone else.  Send a life raft to those around you;  teach them how to fish.

We are a nation that is in about as good of shape as I am.   Running around to set this all up I realized we have become weak.  We must be better than what we have allowed ourselves to become.  We must get the poison out no matter what others throw our way.  We must defend those that disagree with when they tell the truth.  One person on stage organized a pray group for President Obama, a Democrat.  Will media mention it?

For us to explore, we must also explore 'inner' space, looking within.  The Lord sends us wake up calls.  (1) 9/11 with fear — we stood as Americans together, God's creations;  but fear wakes you up for only a short time;  I do talk about frightening things [but not a 'fear-monger']  The captain of the Titanic was not a 'fear-monger' but was warning the passengers to take cover.

Jesus said, "Just watch for me for an hour."  The enemy lit torches can came up.  The disciples slept.  After the resurrection, the disciples stayed awake,  As a nation we must strengthen our spirit.   I ask you (Republicans, Democrats, Independents) all Americans, we have it so great in America.   We must learn to not repeat bad history.

Forty days ago I asked you to pray on your knees;  recognize your place before our Creator.  I asked you to pray with your children, humbled by God in prayer.  That which they see you do, they will become.

Secondly, I asked you to tell the Truth.   America is crying out for the Truth—tell the Truth, and then expect it in others.

Third, connect with your spouse and children;  charity begins at home. Give them love and support.

Make the choice: forward, or end.   My favorite line in the Declaration of Independence:  With firm resolve, we pledge our lives, sacred honor and fortunes.  The large font, "We the People" was code, knowing we would forget.

How can you have firm reliance if you don't know what you believe.  Thomas Jefferson said question with boldness.  Question even the very existence of God, he said.  When the storms come up, you have to believe in something:  we will be fine.  I choose to believe in God.  You are one of his children.  It carries responsibility.  I warn you it is a blessing and you must stand because you have no other choice.

Know who He is, and know who you are.

Washington wanted to be a farmer and a surveyor, not a general and president.  We each come to a point and say "Have I not given enough" and God will say, "No, your mission continues" because He is not done with man's freedom and honor yet.

There comes a time when each generation must sacrifice for the next.  Our children need a sliver of a chance to like in our America.  It is not a coincidence that 1776 set men free.  If we want it for generations, we know instinctively we must pray and stand.

If you have been in the hospital with a child, you have prayed, "God let my child live."  [Moving passion]   We must not give grandchildren slavery!  When the man with a stick by the burning bush [he gave a tithe, 10%]  Please give to your church/synagogue.  You can give gladly and will be fine.

And the last part:  our sacred honor.   It means there are no lies.  My whole life was a lie;  I tell you now  the Truth shall set you free, after making you miserable first.  Each of us must do these things.  Then when we do, we will know who we are.  We will heal our nation.

The storm coming is a global storm:  we must go to God's Boot Camp to guide the world to safety.  We pledge to ourselves our lives, fortunes, and sacred honor.  Be on God's side.  So many things we gaze upon pull us away.   We insist that our churches stand for what we know is true:  our churches, our synagogue, our mosques.

[Glenn waves to a DbM helicopter.]  Must be a really big crowd because they violate air space to get a camera-shot.

In our churches, our synagogues and our mosques, we must stand for the things that we know are true.  240 years ago, there was "The Black Robe Regimen" in America.  England hated these preachers.  When the British came, if you were a preacher, you were most likely to be killed. Preachers said, "All men are created equal; rights come from God, not a King."

We as a nation have fallen asleep;  and our churches have fallen asleep.   It isn't about one church over another but rather the eternal principles of God.  After 240 years of being asleep, the black robe regimen is back today.  [[Applause]]  Ministers of all faiths are here today: it is time to start the heart of this nation again.  Put it where it belongs:  our heart [of America] with God.

Black-Robe-Regimen stands behind him and locks arms.  [Applause]   It is time to start the heart of this nation again.  Go to your churches, synagogue, mosques, any place of worship that is not preaching hate and killing and demand they teach the truth.  Stand with God.  Those here and watching on TV represent 180 million people.

There are thousands willing to do the right thing—but we must not have fear, nor get lost in politics.  [Glenn Beck thinks this is the DbM Tweak for today.]  I know the media will make this into: [Sesame Street Voice next]  "And the most crazy thing Glenn Beck said . . ."  [Glenn does not finish the sentence for them.]

We find ourselves in incredible times.  We can disagree on politics.  Ministers standing here don't all agree on doctrine:  what we all do agree on is this:  God is the answer!  Leave here and forget, and it can be said that you have wasted your time.

Stand for something or as Lincoln said, " it will be little noticed."  It is what you DO from now on.  There are children; we can teach them;  pledge to restore honor in your own life.  Your children must see your scriptures and your prayers.  [With tears]  The next George Washington is eight years old and is in this crowd.  This is the moment that the young one sees giants around him and dedicates his life [to God and the American miracle.]  He will return 25 yrs from now and say, "I have a new dream."

America is at a crossroads and you must choose. We have made mistakes but can grow from them.  Yesterday is gone;  tomorrow may never come;  but we have today, to make a difference.  [applause; Glenn takes a bottle of water.]   It is what we are doing today that makes the difference.

1700s John Newton was in England, a slave ship captain.  He didn't see the horror he was engaged in until he nearly died in a storm.   He fell to his knees, "Lord, save us."  He wrote the best song for the bagpipes, "Amazing Grace:  once I was blind, but now I can see."   See what the Lord is putting in front of you now.   [Scottish men in kilts;  audience starts to sing along;   soloist takes the mike,  handsome well-built Black young man in a white suit, blue shirt.  You also see a tearful Sarah Palin singing a bit.]

[Glenn uses a towel on his eyes.]   Trust.  Divine Providence.  I told my staff we needed an event at Lincoln Memorial, not sure what it would be.  Park service was supportive;  our costs rose;  we were at $3.1million and short by $600,000.   With my wife, I looked up at the top of the plane, "Lord, it is up to you."  We raised $5.5million [for SOWF] and the money is still coming in.

Staff asked, what if nobody comes?   I said we would stand where God wants and "He will provide what is supposed to happen."

We close tonight with prayer.  Dave Roever was on a mission in Iraq and a phosphorus weapon went off in his hand.  [Too moving to type here] Prayer by Dave Roever:  God in Heaven we recognize the second reflecting pool of people, reflecting You.  We may be scared but recognize You as healer.  Our nation needs a healer.  May we move your heart to protect our troops as they defend our Freedom.  We thank you for our president, congress, and this land. Especially we thank you for dedicated people. All things work together for those that love God and serve his purposes, book of Romans, verse 8:28;  bless us all and the veterans from Vietnam that never got a welcome home [tearful], God welcome them  home.  Bless everyone to go home in peace; And give Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, David Barton, preachers and singers a big thanks and your support.  In the name we love so much, in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Glenn:  We can live in the scars or move forward and reclaim honor.
God Bless.   Keep the faith, do the work, spread the Word. [Angela and singers.]
