Your Rush Limbaugh Echo for Friday, 9/17/10
Student NOTES from Institute seniors, not 'official'
Opening: Substitute Mark Davis is here today.
Seg#1: Look for Rush to return to The Golden Microphone on Monday
I know; I know: I was the substitute that told you that Rush would not be having any more substitutes until Christmas. But Rush's cold wasn't told about the plan.
From the Rush Limbaugh Morning Update: "Yes We Can!"
Folks, the State-Controlled Media says Christine O'Donnell's victory in Delaware has made a "Republican Senate takeover less likely." CBS "Elections Director" Anthony Salvanto (ever heard of him?) has published a state-by-state analysis.
And of the 17 Senate races he looked at, he gives the edge to Democrats in only three: Connecticut, West Virginia, and Delaware. I say Republicans are competitive in even these states -- including Delaware.
But according to Salvanto, Republicans have the edge in seven races: Arkansas, Missouri, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Indiana. You know what? It isn't impossible for Republicans to run the slate.
Now look at the states CBS says are the "toss ups": California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, Washington, and Wisconsin. The smart money puts Florida in Republican territory; Rubio is wiping his opponents off the map. Dingy Harry Reid is in deep do-do in Nevada -- so much so he's trying to attach an amnesty provision to a defense bill to get the Hispanic vote.
And here's something CBS doesn't get about California. When statewide votes are held, they lean conservative. Proposition 187 and Prop 8 prove it. And when the defining election issue is taxes, even California liberal voters tilt right, which is why Proposition 13 is still on the books out there.
You add it all up, and we could see a Republican tsunami in the Senate, despite the conventional wisdom. And with voters everywhere on a tear to derail Obama policies? Si se Puede! Yes, we can!

Quote Gems from Rush Limbaugh dot com:
"Tax cuts to Obama is like the cross to Dracula."
"I'm coming down with a bit of a head cold today. Every time I give up tobacco products, it happens. When I'm smoking cigars, I never, ever get a cold. I get the flu sometimes, but I never, ever get a cold."
"You know where the greatest repository of greed in the world is? It's in Washington, DC, and it's in everybody who lives off the pile of money in there every day."
"Snerdley had an interesting observation: American women, particularly news women, when they head over to these Islamic countries, they observe every sexist, bigoted custom. And in our country, they tell us to go to hell."
"Now, if it's true that Michelle Obama thinks her job is 'hell', this would go a long way in explaining her endless string of lavish vacations and parties."
"Just yesterday Christine O'Donnell had 50 grand on tap, was down 25 points, and had no prayer. Today she's got over a million dollars and she's only down 11 -- in one day! Don't tell us we can't win!"
"We're not talking about purity here. We're talking about loyalty. We're talking about right versus wrong. If you're for Obama, become a Democrat. Don't tarnish our brand."
"I resent this attention being focused on independents and moderates. I can't stand so much money and attention being spent on people who won't have the guts to tell us what they think."
"Obama put Vice President Bite Me in charge of making sure Porkulus money would be spent wisely, but almost a million dollars of the money was spent teaching people how to wash genitals."
"By the way, Mr. Brown, with all due respect, if it weren't for conservatives and Tea Party activists nationwide raising money for you, you wouldn't be in the Senate."
"Mr. Brown, let me tell you something. Look around you in the Senate. You are surrounded by moderate Republicans, Mr. Brown."
"Apparently that really bugs these people when you tell them they're trying to get their invitations for cocktail parties shorn up."
"So the AP went out and did a poll, and half the country is against raising taxes on the rich. Now, this is a stunning thing to read in an article in the Associated Press. This shows just how worried the media complex is about the prospect of their Democrat masters losing control in Washington."
"I'll guarantee you every road with Robert Byrd's name on it in West Virginia is probably in a state of disrepair."
"They're hoping Obama will go out there and do something to gin up enthusiasm on the left, but those days are over. People are abandoning Obama in droves. He can't go back and recapture this spirit that he had prior to being immaculated."
"How can the intelligentsia suggest that freedom is not really at risk here after they've read Obamacare?"
"Just today New York City has announced further places you cannot smoke: You can't smoke in a park, you can't smoke at the beach, you can't smoke wherever. It would be easier for New York City to publish a list of where you can smoke."
"Michelle Obama thinks that being America's first lady is 'hell', Carla Bruni reveals today in a wildly indiscreet new book. Now, you will not see one domestic US news network or service covering this story, which tells me how big this is."
"The Democrats had a big, big announcement yesterday. You know what it was? They have a new logo. It's pathetic."
"If I were president, I'd never leave the White House. I'd be so honored to be in there; every friend I have would be spending every weekend there. I'd be touring it every day in my off time. I'd want to soak up every amount of history I could."
"Well, now we have a dilemma. Who do we believe? Do we believe Sarkozy's wife, Carla Bruni, who once dated Mick Jagger, or do we believe Moochelle Obama via her spokesman?"
"By the way, half of these people quoting the Buckley Rule couldn't carry his typewriter."
"That's another thing you people in the establishment have to stop: you have to stop telling us who can't win and who can, because you don't know. Nobody knows until the votes are counted."
"One in seven Americans live in poverty. This is unacceptable. There is no excuse for this. Now, poverty in America is not like poverty around the world, but still, in the most prosperous country in the history of civilization, there's no excuse."
"The American people do not like hearing their president say, 'You know what? The days of the American economy leading the world are over.' They don't like hearing that, but that's where we are."
"Christine O'Donnell of 'she can't win' fame has now raised over a million dollars, which means, ladies and gentlemen, that Christine O'Donnell is not in debt now -- unlike some of our friends and their websites."
"Given the vicious attacks on O'Donnell by the partisan political operatives in the media and the partisan political operatives on the Republican Party side, how is it possible Christine O'Donnell is this close?"
"Look at me as the defensive coordinator for the conservative movement."

U.S. households saw their net worth decline in the second quarter despite their efforts to save more, underscoring the headwinds facing the economy.
The downturn has trimmed household income significantly, new data show, following years of stagnant wage growth that made the past decade the worst for families in at least half a century.

2012 hopefuls to slam Barack Obama
By MIKE ALLEN | 9/17/10 7:10 AM EDT Updated: 9/17/10 9:32 AM EDT
The tough rhetoric of the 2012 Republican presidential primary season will get a tryout Friday when former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) slam President Barack Obama at the Family Research Council's "Values Voters Summit."
Romney says in his prepared remarks: "We have serious enemies and growing threats around the world. Unfortunately, we have an administration whose idea of a rogue state is Arizona."

The open-borders lobby is out in full force, launching a week-long campaign yesterday to pass another illegal alien amnesty-by-another-name. DREAM Act activists and Hispanic lawmakers strategized with President Obama at the White House. The "undocumented students action and resource network" has been activated. How about you?
Keep track of where your lawmakers stand at NumbersUSA. As I noted the other day, several open-borders Republicans have supported the DREAM Act illegal alien student bailout in the past. Make sure they know where you stand.

Extremists Calling Mainstreamers Extremists
I'm surely not the only one who notices the persistent efforts of the leftist establishment and certain establishment Republicans to portray mainstream conservatives, especially those inhabiting the tea party movement, as radicals and extremists. The more they push this theme the more they marginalize themselves.
You'll remember that Obama's Department of Defense released a manual identifying "protests" as a form of low-level terrorism. His Department of Homeland Security issued a report characterizing protesters as potentially dangerous right-wing extremists and racists, being sure to slander disgruntled veterans returning from duty overseas as part of that frightful mix. Also unforgettable is Obama's categorical derision of small-town people as bitter clingers.
We can learn a lot about people from their dislikes, as well as their likes. They reveal a great deal about themselves when they call "extremists" patriotic Americans who believe in the American ideal, lower taxes and fiscal responsibility, originalism, the rule of law, blind justice, equal protection under the law, strong national defense, limiting government to its assigned constitutional functions, the Second Amendment, the nondiscriminatory application of freedom of speech and expression, the free exercise clause, a reasonable -- not unduly expansive -- interpretation of the establishment and commerce clauses, protection for the unborn, judicial restraint, federalism, the separation of powers, the free market, racial colorblindness, the existence of good and evil in the world, equality of opportunity rather than of outcomes, law and order, immigration control and border protection, motherhood and apple pie.
That's a fair summary of a typical tea partier's credo. By definition, then, in America at least, tea partiers are not extremists. For approximately two times as many American voters identify themselves as conservatives than as liberals, and conservatives mostly believe in those things I've referenced.
