From the Rush Limbaugh Morning Update: "Contempt!"
On December 14, 2010, in a remote area of Arizona near Rio Rico, the U.S. Border Patrol came upon a group of heavily armed illegal aliens. With no respect for American law or those tasked with enforcing it, they start a gunfight. When the smoke cleared, agent Brian Terry lay dead.
One illegal, Manuel Osorio-Arellanes, was captured. He faces 14 federal counts, including second-degree murder, conspiracy to assault a federal officer, "carrying a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence," and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
But the indictment doesn't mention this: Mr. Osorio-Arellanes and his gang of illegals obtained the weapon used to kill Brian Terry, via the Obama Administration's "Fast and Furious" gun running program.
Our federal government, knowingly, sent high-powered arms to some of the most violent criminals on earth, men responsible for thousands of murders and kidnappings in the Mexican drug wars. The intent: to blame American weapons for the violence, as a pretext for tougher gun laws.
Eric Holder's Justice Department refuses to provide Congress with subpoenaed documents about this horrific abuse. Barack Obama, asserting a dubious claim of Executive Privilege, backs Holder. A House panel has voted to hold Holder in contempt of Congress.
Before joining the Border Patrol, Brian Terry served as a U.S. Marine. His life was lost protecting America, and the Administration which provided the gun that killed him. This is the most unforgiveable contempt: the Obama Regime's contempt for those giving their lives to defend it.

Quote Gems from Rush Limbaugh dot com:
"We need a new planet. We need a new planet called Stupider, and I need to put Nancy Pelosi on it as the mayor of the whole planet, as the governor, as the evil emperor, whatever."
"Folks, I can't make any promises today. I got back from an overnight trip, very, very late, and into bed about 4:30am, and when that happens I get kind of giddy and a little... well, you just never know."
"Congress is going to do everything they can to get to the bottom of Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds and all these other guys supposedly lying to Congress. But here's the attorney general blatantly lying to Congress twice, and he's allowed to recant and retract his testimony."
"This Bloomberg poll says Obama is up 53-40, making him twice as popular as he was in 2008. Well, where? What group is going to give him more support than he had in 2008, and then why?"
"You know, we need to start a promotion, listen for six weeks promotion, because I've always said it takes six weeks of steady listening to understand the context of this show."
"I never dreamed that the official Democrat Party response would be that the Republicans intend to cheat in the election and Holder was going to stop 'em, and so Holder has to be stopped because he was going to stop the cheating. That's what the mayor of the new planet Stupider, Nancy Pelosi, said this morning in Washington, DC."
"It's starting to fall apart for Obama. We're getting closer and closer and closer to Jimmy Carter 2, almost verbatim."
"Brian Williams talked about Fast and Furious for the first time in a long time with a smirk on his face. He was very disappointed, and he just said this just a sign of 'our broken politics.'"
"Folks, if you love football, you better enjoy it while you can, because there are fundamental changes coming to this game. They're going to forever alter it."
"You know what happens when the government gets involved in anything: It changes forever. It becomes regulated for the personal aggrandizement of the politicians."
"One of the reasons for this executive privilege, I am convinced, is to distract everybody's attention from the economy."
"What would be more illegal than giving weapons to murderous drug cartels in order to be able to curtail the Second Amendment rights guaranteed Americans by the Constitution? What in the name of Sam Hill is legal about seeing to it that you create crimes? That's what this administration did."
"You know, Romney, I have to say, got a great crease in his pants, and unlike Bill Clinton, Romney keeps his pants on when he's supposed to."
"I don't doubt that Holder and Obama were praying for a major Supreme Court decision today. I have no doubt they were praying -- I don't know how often they pray, and to whom, but I bet you they were praying for a giant decision today to distract everybody from this EP business."
"Did you her what Marcus said? The only man in the history of the world who changed his mind, was me, El Rushbo. Yeah. It does make me feel good."
"There are many times that presidents have invoked executive privilege for entirely qualified reasons. So it's not something to be universally attacked, universally assaulted. You have to examine it case by case each time it's asserted. In this case, it's so suspicious and it's so obvious."
"Would they be asserting executive privilege if they thought that these documents would help Obama get reelected? If they thought that these documents would dump the blame for this on Bush, would they be exerting EP? No way."
"This is unlike any other program out there. It's not contained by any boundary other than the clock. But even at that, the biggest separation that we have is 21 hours."
"The country suffers when liberals succeed. That is a belief that's embedded in my heart. It's never going to change. Nobody's going to change my mind on that because I don't lie to myself."
"Despite all the hype, all the promises, all the fawning media coverage, Obama is just another liberal politician in a long line of 'em. He's just the most radical of all of them to ever come downtown pike. His more reckless. He has a bigger appetite for personal power than anybody to come down the pike."
"This regime is governing against the will of it's people and it is governing against the laws of this country. There isn't any question about it."
"You know, a lot of independents are people fed up with RINO Republicans. This notion that the independents are a bunch of Democrats in hiding is absurd. A lot of independents are conservatives who are fed up with the GOP establishment and they've left the party."
"Have you noticed the crease in Hillary's pantsuit? I've always thought it's every bit as sharp as Obama's. And yet David Brooks harped on Obama's crease in his slacks."

California's budget deal cuts welfare, health care
California will close its projected $15.7 billion budget deficit by restructuring the state's welfare program, streamlining health insurance for low-income children, and reducing child care coverage and college aid, as part of a deal Gov. Jerry Brown and Democratic leaders announced Thursday.

Currently Rasmussen Reports has Mitt Romney leading President Obama 47%-43% among likely voters, while Gallup has Obama's approval/disapproval at 43/49 and Romney leading Obama 47%-45%. So evidently Obama's partial immigration amnesty wasn't the political master stroke that many in the media called it. Today it was Romney's turn to make his case to Hispanics, before the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials in Orlando. Romney's approach was, I »

With the Supreme Court poised to rule on the constitutionality of Obamacare, a suit filed today challenges the constitutionality of the other signature legislation of President Obama's first term: Dodd-Frank. Brought in the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., the case is styled State National Bank of Big Springs and others v. Timothy Geithner and others. The other defendants include the Treasury Department, the Consumer Protection Bureau, the Board of »

I wrote yesterday that the Obama administration's assertion of executive privilege with respect to Fast and Furious documents that have been subpoenaed by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is frivolous. If you haven't already read it, you can check out that post to see why. In addition, I pointed out that lawyers only assert lousy claims of privilege when they have something to hide. So the presumption that »

In recent election cycles, Democratic candidates have consistently outspent Republicans. In 2004, John Kerry spent more than George W. Bush. In the last weeks of the 2008 campaign, Barack Obama, the greatest money-machine in the history of American politics up to that time, reportedly outspent John McCain by five to one. Democrats boasted of their fundraising prowess, and Obama vowed to raise an unprecedented billion dollars for his reelection campaign. »

Obama's Ludicrous Self-Portrait as a Budget Hawk
I saw it with my own eyes on a video clip that Sean Hannity played. At a speech in Baltimore, President Obama laughingly dismissed the notion that he is responsible for our nation's current spending orgy. Seriously.

Sporting a wide grin, Obama said, "I love listening to these guys give us lectures about debt and deficits." He must think this subject is a real knee-slapper. He continued: "I inherited a trillion-dollar deficit. We had a surplus; they turned it into a deficit, built in a structural deficit that extends for decades. ... We signed $2 trillion in spending cuts into law. I laid out a detailed plan for a total of $4 trillion in deficit reduction. ... But even when you account for the steps we took to prevent a depression and jump-start the economy ... spending under my administration has grown more slowly than under any president in 60 years."

A fascinating question is whether Obama actually believes this fantasy or he and his disciples are laughing at us, as well.

Yes, he's had some delusional enablers who have argued that he has been fiscally frugal, having actually slowed the rate of government spending. Yes, you read that correctly.
But how do these enablers make such a claim -- in print, no less? Well, the best I can figure is that they say that the deficit for Bush's final fiscal year was above $1 trillion and that hence Obama's $1 trillion deficits thereafter constitute continuing the status quo; he's not increasing the level of the deficits.   ~~~   ~~~   ~~~
