Seg#1: CNN John King got exactly what DbM wanted from Gingrich
Let's hear what you say before I weigh in on the SC Debate. Tea Party camp and elite establishment camp in GOP both suggest a brokered convention. Newt displeases Tea Party and Mitt Romney has the Republican establishment worried. There is some overlap in the two camps.
Keep Newt in this until Florida because nobody is happy now. So there is that scuddlebutt; and then there was the thud of Maryanne Gingrich. The reason they didn't air more clips because there was nothing, no news. Unhappiness is the scuttle-butt. The longer this strings out, both camps think, the more likely they can decide their Nominee in the back of smoke-filled rooms with power brokers.
Snerdley (and callers) was your mind changed? I'll put you on first.
((Clip of John King trying to clear the air of the stinky elephant in the room; and "would you like to take some time to respond to that?" "No. But I will." Newt goes on to say how "appalled" he was, etc., to standing ovation.)) Newt was prepared. ((Clip-on: Everyone in here knows personal pain, or someone who is divorced. It is despicable. Etc.)) Even though I hoped they would ask it. Standing-O .!.
It was 'red meat' and people ate it up. They never did this to Obama.
((Clip-on: I am tired of media attacking Republicans, they will get around to Santorum and Ron Paul.)) Let me tell you: you cannot 'shame' DbM; they don't change. John King is proud of what he did, not backing down, and he is a DbM hero now.
John King showed how they hold the sword over the opposition head. If you think he learned his lesson and it will never happen again, think again. They revel in the fact they intimidate and scare some away from joining the race. He got exactly what he wanted from Gingrich.
>>> "You want a piece of this?" was DbM message to Conservatives.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#2: Don't doubt Rush when he talks about Drive-by Media
There is just one thing standing in the way of a 'brokered nomination' and it is there are not any brokers. All of the convention delegates are pledged! [What about super delegates? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_delegate ]
They would have to toss all their convention rules. Hey, Herman. Nobody had any evidence, come on in. Hey, Sarah. Is it cold enough for you up there? Pawlenty?
>>> It was a homerun for John King and he accepts the accolades.
Rush plays a clip from the CNN panel after talking to John King.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#3: John King and Newt Gingrich played their roles in a SHOW
John King and Newt illustrated that DbM can be beat, but they are not going to change: no matter how much money they lose and how many new sources get shut down. How many Republican consultants tell their candidate to not do like Newt?
So I ask you: did Newt hurt himself by taking on John King?
Independents like the [smack down of DbM] also. Newt Gingrich gets standing ovations because they want what is rare. Standing Ovations .!. Media is not going to change and be fair.
David Rodham Gergen ((Clip: He could win SC just on that answer.)) What's so funny in there? [Snerdley and staff, behind the glass.] Howard Fineman left W-Post to sit with Arianna HuffingPuffing. ((Clip: They are in a foreign country and liked it. They like cockfighting here.)) Can we say prejudice? SC is Cuba to him?
Liberals in media hate Conservatives more than they hate the Taliban.
Caller-WA: Gergen stole my finder; why did King lob this softball?
((Clip-King: It was my decision to deal up front and not sneak it in.)) It was all about John King. Their objective is to take our candidates out, all of them. 'I am the man and fearless', John King. They hoped Newt would be embarrassed and flub it up and not get a standing ovation.
I know Liberals better than they know themselves, and know what they will do before they do. One theory is they would give Newt the stage for the first ten minutes and none of the other candidates would match it. John King probably thought he could bring it back up at the end of the debate, but Newt shut him down.
>>> Ed Sullivan always put Beatles on at the top of the show;
> > > > and brought them back at show end for an encore.
>>> Make no mistake, this was a show for both King & Newt.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#4: When will consultants notice Conservative Landslides ?
So what does DbM think of SC? Grits, NASCAR, football, cockfights, military, and jobs. That is America and Liberals hate all of that. Plus there is a good-looking female governor and Left also hates that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikki_Haley
Caller-SC: I have changed my mind, Newt delivered. Mitt not Conservative.
Let me understand here: you were 60% Romney, 40% Santorum, and now you are a Newtster? I've always said, "Let Conservatism reign; it won't lose.' But the consultants just won't let it happen.
> Even with Conservative landslides, they think it scares Independents.
ED: Glenn Beck says Gingrich is a progressive, that would be anti-Conservative!
ED2: Rush drags Mitt advisors to the Right. Last night we thought Mitt Romney listened!
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#5: Keystone pipe proponents want to reroute via Montana
>>>>> Obama will not be able to stop it but Democrats will try.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#6: Perception of Keystone will damage Obama
(Theme Music) There are other items in the news: the Supreme Court threw out redistricting in TX. A bunch of Leftist said the Republican drawn districts didn't agree with growth. A lower court agreed with the community organizers but SCOTUS tossed it. This is big news.
TransCanada Corp may shorten the pipe via Montana and not need gov't approval. ((Reading: They want to first build the leg and not cross the border.))
The gas from the Bakken field holds as much as 4.3billion recoverable oil. They exceed the output of Ecuador. It is a best-kept secret and a boom is happening in ND. [See Rush's website for direct quotes and details.] I like the idea to build 80% and then ask Congress to cross the border.
The question is: Will Canada wait? Canada may turn to the ChiComs.
Sometimes I like the ideas and writing of Samuelson "An act of national insanity".
www.conservativecommune.com/2012/01/samuelson-obamas-rejection-of-keystone-pipeline-an-act-of-national-insanity/ T. Boone Pickins says we are complete fools for canceling the pipeline. ((Reading Samuelson more: ChiComs must be in glee and wondering how USA could pass up energy that is so close.))
You can analyze this Republican race/debates all you want, but Obama is the problem. Keep perspective. He was a terrible senator and is a terrible president. Newt had it right to criticize DbM for propping Obama up. Czars and the unconstitutional Obamacare; [etc]. A moratorium on Gulf of Mexico oil drilling. He is a baby that has been coddled all his life.
>>> Now this stupid and damaging Keystone oil-pipeline decision.
_____________________________________________________________
Segment#7: (Stop Online Piracy Act) and (Protect IP Act)
Obama shuts down a few websites to please his Hollywood buddies. There is no way PIPA and SOPA pleases Conservatives. If foreigners are downloading out movies, they will become corrupted like we are.
Give The Regime the power to shut down any site they want? Too broad.
Caller: Newt inspires me to pick up my harpoon and go after Moby Dick.
We'll see if votes are changed.
Caller-UT: Questioning is appropriate. There are consequences to mistresses.
What should they be? Gingrich found a Win-Win, same with Juan Williams calling him a racist.
>>> Homosexuals should be happy to not have marriage.
Caller said the cultural threat is greater from serial play-boys than from GAY marriage.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#8: 'Millie' Limbaugh had pictures of Dan Rather on her frig
Anderson Cooper 330 ((Clip-Gloria Borger: Newt Gingrich answer played well in SC but there is a longer story with women. SC has White men. Obviously, it could become an issue.)) Obviously? Newt Gingrich denies and a congressional wife said that Maryanne was unstable, loud, and not popular.
www.usnews.com/news/blogs/washington-whispers/2012/01/19/newt-ally-calls-ex-wife-unstable-unhinged Probably Fred Grandy's wife. [ED: His wife made statements about radical Islam, losing his radio job.]
Is that hilarious or what? Women won't dig the Gingrich comeback? Is it true?
Before the NH debate, "I paid for this microphone", said Reagan. ((Clip: Will the sound man please turn Mr Reagan's off? [Crowd rebels] "Mr Breen, I paid for this microphone.")) What does Hillary and Jennifer Flowers think of Marianne Gingrich?
You Leftist sitting there in media: This road had been paved by William Jefferson Clinton. You defended it and private stuff. Newt and Clinton are linked together again, the 'nuts and sluts' defense.
((Clip-1948-Bush-Sr: I want to talk about why support me; how fair is it to judge my whole career with one instance?)) The tennis ran long and Dan Blather got mad and walked off the set in a mini-protest. It made news. Roger Ailes was Bush Sr campaign advisor and knew they would try to pin Iran Contra on him in the 1988 campalgn. My Mother came to town and Dan Rather was as nice as he could be.
Even though both benefited, . . .
>>> Newt Gingrich will be in the crosshairs of John King forever.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#9: Were the wives of Client #9 and Weiner monogamous ?
What about the women of South Carolina? They are unsophisticated like the wife of Spitzer and the wife of Weiner? NE wives are more sophisticated and monogamous?
((Clip-Lib: When you are running for president, you have to defend your integrity.)) He says that unlike Newt, I take care of my ex-wives. [Rush laughs himself silly.]] For taxes, Newt Gingrich got $3.1million and almost paid 1/3 to The Regime.
Caller: Thanks for coming to Joplin NC. I am leaning to Santorum.
It was clearly the best night Santorum has had in a debate, some thought.
>>> Thanks for the call — we'll be right back.
_____________________________________________________________
Segment#11: How old is your car and/or truck ?
(Music) One Big Busy Broadcast hour left; delaying my final debate analysis. There are other items in the news: Morning Bell is one of many great blogs of Heritage Foundation. Obama jokes are abundant as his family spends a week in Orlando.
"Obama's Magic Kingdom of Joblessness" is from the same guy that said to not go to Las Vegas. http://blog.heritage.org/2012/01/20/morning-bell-obamas-magic-kingdom-of-joblessness/ Gasoline prices have doubled in the last three years.
Would DbM be as forgiving of a Republican president in the Oval Office.
There are 13.1million Americans unemployed and the Obama decision is their loss. Gasoline prices could hit $4.00 to $4.25 by this spring. [When's spring?] And The Regime held only one oilfield permit in 2011. There is a moratorium. ND has the lowest unemployment in the country with 3.3%. And it is all related.
((Reading on: Meanwhile, Obama singled out Charles Rangel for praise.)) DbM focuses on Romney paying tithing rather than Obama raising money from a cheat.
((Reading: HuffingtonPuffington Post notes married people are 40% likely to be divorced. Educated are less likely to get divorced.)) Why these stories now? Why were we told with Clinton that 'lying is sometimes good'.
All of a sudden the divorcee rate is not as widespread as it used to be. It is, when you read to the end of the article.
Americans are holding on longer to trucks and cars, average age is 10.8 years.
www.detroitnews.com/article/20120118/AUTO01/201180329/1148/auto01/Average-age-cars-trucks-hits-10-8-years-sets-record Remember the 3-yr car loans? You used to keep your car three years and then get a new model.
>>> The Economy is making people hold onto their vehicles longer.
Trading in three years saved because depreciation would take over.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#12: Clinton rape didn't matter but Newt's mistress-wife does?
CNN Situation Room w/Wolf Blitzer ((Clip-gadfly: Rush Limbaugh had to defend Gingrich on 'open marriage'. Rush: We've already had one w/JFK and Clintons.)) How do they make me sound so gravilly?
Caller-gal: We celebrated MLK birthday, color-blind looking to character. Santorum has values and cannot buy the presidency.
Pre-debate, Rick Santorum was at 15% in SC — Nationally, 13%. Clinton was so known for the mistresses and one rape with Juanita Brodrick, we wondered how people could vote for him. Deviancy was defined down, and called 'normal'.
Now, some the same people that wanted to roast Clinton are now saying, "It only matters to stop Obama and Newt's mistress doesn't matter."
Caller-still: This is what the crap on TV has done to America; we don't watch.
You have a point; Kathryn and I see words that would not be tolerated ten years ago. Where are the morality police for TV? But they come out against Newt. It is interesting to note the American culture.
>>> I understand your frustration with no Santorum support.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#13: Talking about Capitalism, Mitt Romney finally came alive
We'll do some Santorum sound-bites, and talk about weekend NFL playoffs. In Rasmussen polls in SC, Santorum is at 15%. Romney calls for release of hearings in Congress for the Newt downfall, "get it out now so we are not embarrassed" they both say.
Nancy Pelosi was on the committee and knows what is in Newt's ethics report. It is illegal for her to say. Romney turns the tables on Gingrich, and Wolf Blitzer says, "Bad blood could hurt their race." Did John King tell him that?
Is it up to you to get out of the race? ((Clip-Santorum: Grandiosity was never a problem with Gingrich, who said he would be the nominee.)) Even people who support Newt say he needs to limit his grand ideas. The Declaration of Independence was a grand idea. Tories thought they were crazy.
The Lewis and Clark sponsors sent two men to map America. Another grand idea was the Emancipation Act; also, landing a man on the moon, while filming it all in AZ (just kidding). I remember a video on Steve Jobs, changing things and push humanity forward, while some call him crazy.
You might even say Grandiosity in the defense of Liberty is a good thing.
((Clip-Newt slapping Santorum's stupid comment down.))
((Clip-Santorum: Romneycare is a failure, the basis if Obamacare.))
((Clip-Romney slapping Santorum's stupid comment down.)) Mitt Romney finally went of offense defending Bain Capital with passion. Romney was better last night than the debate before [Rush didn't watch before.] "There is nothing wrong with profit, by the way!" [Cheers, as Romney explains benefits.] "It is Capitalism and Freedom that makes America strong." [Wild cheering and applause.]
>>> It was that answer that Romney fans say kept him ahead.
>>>>> It was when Mitt Romney finally came alive.
Some say these debates prepare our candidates for the DbM onslaught.

Seg#14: Will you tape or watch the NFL championship games Sunday?
AFC championship game, NE Patriots vs Baltimore Ravens. Patriots did not beat a winning team all season but have a 13-3 record. Their defense was second to last, but throw that out when you get to finals. The Ravens can't score. The NE Patriots 'own' the middle of the field. I'll be shocked if Superbowl is not 49ers vs Patriots.
It is raining in San Francisco, four days of rain. Giants have injuries but are peaking, so are 49ers. Both games will be barnburners and unpredictable.
> > > Sunday 3pm it all kicks off, CBS, and we'll find out.

Seg#15: Rush pretty much agrees with the callers Snerdley selected.
I can't tell you what I am thinking, pointless. Thanks are much as before.

From the Rush Limbaugh Morning Update: "Hovensa"
You might not recognize the brand Hovensa, unless you're in Saint Croix, part of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The company runs a giant oil refinery that's been the largest employee on St. Croix. Until now.
Over the last three years, Hovensa has experienced over $1 billion in losses, and this week they announced they're shutting down. The refinery which is, according to the company, one of the ten largest in the world, still produces over 350,000 barrels of oil a day. But the company forecast projected nothing but losses. They cited the global economic slowdown and increasing refining capacity in emerging markets as reasons.
They didn't cite the EPA, but they should have. Earlier this month, the company entered into a "consent decree" with the EPA and the Justice Department. Hovensa "agreed" to invest $700 million in new pollution controls. They were also fined five and a half million dollars for violating the Clean Air Act.
It doesn't take a math genius to figure out that with over $700 million confiscated, there were bound to be losses as far as the eye could see. The company issued a statement saying they " deeply regret the closure" of the refinery, but "severe financial losses" left them no choice.
With the island's biggest employer shutting down, will Obama or the EPA offer bailouts? Nope. These aren't union jobs; there are no campaign donations to be kicked back. And when St. Croix collapses, you know who'll be blamed: Bain Capital. The 1%. Anybody – but Obama.

Quote Gems from Rush Limbaugh dot com:
"The Keystone pipeline, potentially a hundred thousand jobs down the road, from a man who claims to be laser-focused on jobs. If there was ever an illustration that the man does not tell the truth, and that his objectives are not the furtherance of this nation's real interests, this is it."
"Barack Obama has staked his fortunes to the so-called green energy industry. Barack Obama hates the oil industry. But more importantly, Barack Obama's base, his voter base consists of environmentalist wackos. He needs their support. His reelection is not by any means guaranteed."
"The news media does not take out Democrats. The news media isn't even oriented toward doing damage. They don't even vet Democrats. This is the agenda that journalism has become."
"For Obama, winning the White House was a path to wealth. For the Republican nominees all except Santorum, now, it will be a pay cut."
"I'm convinced that ABC and NBC are in a race to see who can do the best for Obama, the most damage to the Republicans for Obama."
"Obama reminds me of this Italian cruise ship captain. If he weren't so seriously oriented toward transforming this country into something it's never been, I would say he's a joke."
"I'm not advocating anybody here, precisely because of this stuff. This is why I don't endorse anybody. I have not spent this program defending Newt at the expense of Romney and Santorum! To me this is the news today."
"I have always respected the intelligence of those of you in this audience. You make up your own minds. You are your own thinkers. This program validates what you believe. I know that we've had a lot of liberals, former liberals that we persuaded here, but you're not mind-numbed robots."
"Who is Mr. Do-Nothing? Barack Obama is Mr. Do-Nothing. We have a do-nothing, job-killing president. The Keystone pipeline is a no-brainer."
"Mitt Romney nor Newt Gingrich nor Rick Santorum nor Rick Perry have anything to do with the economic misery in this country. That is traceable to one man and one location: Barack Obama and the Oval Office."
"If there was ever a man working against the will of the American people, if there was ever a president who is working against the best interests of the United States of America, I haven't seen one other than Barack Obama."
"What's wrong with an opportunity society? What's wrong with getting government out of people's lives? What's wrong with inspiring people to do more for themselves? That's all an opportunity society is."
"I need to think that Thursdays are 'damned if you do, damned if you don't.' That's what today's turned out to be: 'Damned If You Do, Damned If You Don't Thursday.'"

This is a very hard-hitting cartoon, by Michael Ramirez. Some will think it over the top, or extreme. Is being born an American in the 21st century really equivalent to being a slave? One recoils from the thought. Yet a child born today is the inheritor of a national debt that stands at $15 trillion, and counting. If Barack Obama gets his way, the debt will explode over the next »

I watched tonight's South Carolina debate, having skipped the last several such events. It was exceptionally interesting. There is much one might say, but two observations stand out. First, all four participants did very well. Starting in the 1980s or 1990s, voters began, for some reason, to value above all else the skills that are on display in "debates." So it probably isn't surprising that the four survivors of the »

[Disney castle photo] [[text here]] ~~~ ~~~ In his opening campaign ad salvo, Obama accuses his opponents of being "untethered to facts." But this is an administration that believes lowering visa standards and risking homeland security to pump up Disney foreign tourism is a better path to economic recovery than supporting direct American job creation and enhancing energy security. Like the Disney characters he posed with this week, our cartoonish president is wholly untethered to reality.

Most Americans do NOT pay a "far lower percentage" [than Mitt]. As Noel Sheppard points out with fancy charts to back it up:
That means as a function of AGI – which is typically how folks look at taxes – if Romney pays 15 percent as he stated, he's paying a higher rate than 97 percent of his fellow citizens.
This is a far cry from what media representatives have been saying since his admission.
Even measuring this by taxable income, Romney is still paying more than 87 percent of filers.
