Student NOTES from Institute juniors, not 'official'
Open: Ron Paul does sound like a terrorist sometimes.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#1: Did Republican Leadership want to only win Congress .?.
His son Rand Paul refused a patdown from TSA at an airport.
I told you months ago that GOP elites wanted only to win "down-ballot" and now they panic and want olde candidates to get back into the race. They want to control the Senate and House so they are in charge of the money. They are not interested that much in controlling spending.
Newt Gingrich has thrown the Republican primaries into a tizzy, and don't understand what has happened, and why. They don't understand Tea Party.
The American middleclass are the ones that follow the rules. They make this country great. They are mocked for it in movies and on TV. No one speaks up for them. Ronald Reagan stood up for them and won by 'skunking' them. Now, Republicans don't defend them because they are afraid of offending Independents.
It has all been bottled up.
So when Gingrich gets 'teed up' by Juan Williams or John King, they see Gingrich fighting for them. They are tired of the cultural rot and that their candidates don't fight back with passion.
Voters said, "What did Newt do with Fannie/Freddie? I don't care!"
"How many wives did Newt have? I don't care! He is fighting for us .!. "
It really isn't complicated. Romney, vs all-the-others, and Mitt wins. Elite Republican leadership wanted it over before it began. "This can't go on?", says DbM. Every bit of conventional wisdom was stood on its head. DbM gave its best shot and can't control everything. Ladies and gentlemen, a protracted debate goes on the convention, bring it on.
Discussing Conservativism at the convention will be a great thing.
Mitt Romney needs to connect with voters and convince of his conservatism. "I believe in America" is not going to be enough. The base isn't convinced he is a Conservative. He needs to convince them.
Have you see the George Clooney movie, "Ides of March" ? It starts off with my Operation Chaos. Nobody told me.
It's a win-win in a long primary. If Newt implodes, that is OK too.
>>> Everything is going to be OK. Don't panic, folks.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#2: Obama is a Progressive! Why not hammer on that?
eMail says I am wrong and that an extended primary hurts us. I immediately set up a filter to delete those eMail notes. I would rather hear opposition to Obama pointing out he is a Progressive than he is in over his head. From the get-go it was 'electability' and Romney is only 9 of 25 in elections.
>>> Romney will be the candidate for Conservative, if he gets it.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#3: Middle America wants a passionate Conservative
There is a fascinating article in The New York Times on why Apple manufactures in China. They only leave one thing out: they have no unions.
Everyone thinks Newt Gingrich won in SC because of media smackdowns—that is not it: It is because he is able to articulate Conservatism. Other candidates shrivel away when asked.
Newt articulates Conservatism, with good-cheer and happiness, and takes it to Obama. It gets old for him to take it to the DbM. You can only go to the well so many times, unless it is outrageous.
He can blow his lead if he sits with Pelosi on Global Warming.
Saying FDR is his favorite president could also sink Newt with Conservatives. If he waters it down he loses his need. He was going to have a chapter on Global Warming until we found out about it and he pulled it.
For crying-out-loud, the election is not until November! There is a lot that can happen. This is how representative Republicanism works. I don't subscribe to conventional wisdom and neither should you.
>> >> >> We'll be right back—take it easy; sit back and relax.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#4: What is the message to Republican leadership? Conservatism!
Tea Party people are trying to send a message to Republican leadership. The Republican base is telling their leadership, "This is how we view the opposition and the solution." Santorum is the next closest to what they want.
Advisors really believe that elections are won by the 20% who are Moderates or Independents. They are wrong: if you don't have your base you have nothing.
[Rush is passionate and talking fast! See his website if interested.]
>>> The Republican base is sick of losing America—supports Newt.
They see a guy that articulates Conservatism and they vote for him.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#5: Republican leader Soundbytes will confirm what I have said.
_____________________________________________________________
S#6: Rush Limbaugh continues to expose elite Republican leadership
(Theme Music) We ought to sent that first hour to Hollywood (for the Grammys) just to send them into a tizzy-loop. John Meacham used to be at Newsweek and now is at Time magazine ((Reading: Meet Newt Nixon. He pits real Americans against elites.)) Liberals hated Nixon for outing Alger Hiss. They never forgave him for sending a Communist to jail. Nixon created class-warfare? That is what Obama does.
((Clip-David_Brooks: I do think the country has lost some self-esteem. If you think you have the Truth, they are just in the way. Rush Limbaugh.)) I am ruining the country? The question was, "How do you win the future by learning from the past?"
The 'self-esteem' movement tells little Johnny, "2+2=5 if you believe it."
((Archive-Clip-Rush: Elite establishment Republican leadership doesn't mind losing the WH if they can retain the House and take over the Senate.)) I've never met Steve Schmidt (exchanged some eMail notes) and what do people that have lost elections have to contribute anyway? Why put McCain center-stage with you?
Bob Schrum has never won an election and he is now an expert? Do you have someone who finishes in last place tell you how to win? Snerdley thinks Romney invited McCain to show Independents, "See, we are the reasonable ones." If that is the case, then I am even more right than stated so far.
((Clip-Steve_Schmidt: If Newt Gingrich is able to win FL, you will see a meltdown you cannot describe.)) It is already happening. There is already panic, calling Mitch Daniels, "Run, Mitch, run", says the online petition. Big Whoop!
((Clip: Newt Gingrich has a 60% unlikeability. What is the impact in trying to keep the House? What is the chance where Republicans have the chance to take the Senate?)) See, I told you that months ago.
((Clip-Brit_Hume: Congressmen will be terrified to run with Gingrich.)) That is the conventional wisdom. Some really wanted Mitch Daniels to run because Romney wasn't exciting enough. Daniels didn't want to run because of his wife.
What were Hillary's negative numbers when she ran for POTUS? Well, some did try to take her out because they didn't like her. There is this intrigue in both parties.
David Gregory the Clintonite ((clip: It is a train wreck.)) The theory that Romney should run as a Moderate is now blown up.
>>> I'm just trying to have you see the current Republican Party.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#7: Tuesday, January 31st, is the Florida primary election
Stephanopoulos asks about being the FL backstop, and Jeb Bush remains neutral. ((Clip: There is fear that Newt Gingrich may be the nominee.)) How does fear and Newt go together? The base votes for what they fear?
((Clip-Scarborough: Newt is not a Conservative. Romney and Gingrich both supported individual mandate. Etc. If Newt wins FL, everything is up for grabs.))
>>> Delegates are pledged on the first vote, then it is 'up-for-grabs';
>>> The Republican Party can make a rules change any time it wants.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#8: Rush wants elite GOP leaders to hear the Tea Party message
Wouldn't it be great if the Republican elites were unhappy with Newt because he is not conservative enough? ((Clip Scarborough: Gingrich is not a Conservative [list of items].)) Don't forget whom we are running against. Don't panic.
Caller: Glad you are there. It is the message, even though we support Romney.
You want party heads to get the message: you just want to save the country and have DbM stop calling you 'hicks'. You want Conservative passion.
They see the country bring robbed and don't see Republican leaders fighting enough, they just want to control the money themselves. We want this party to figure out how to beat Obama, and not with McCain. We don't want you crossing the aisle and being friends with the enemy. Why compromise when you can beat them.
Someone comes along with fight, and voters say, "Right on, Momma, keep it coming."
Caller-Black-truck-driver: I agree with you—leaving Obama. Tipping point for me was what Newt Gingrich said, "Obama on pipeline was stunningly stupid."
The Keystone XL Pipeline was major, you changing your mind.
Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels will make the response to Obama's state of the union address. He is an economist.
> [Rush gives caller an iPad — He can use an app to find best fuel.]
"Spread the word, don't be mute, and hang in there; things will be better."
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#9: "If any man have ears to hear, let him hear." [Hear here]
Caller-MI: I develop golf courses. Are voters being conned by Gingrich? He attacked Capitalism by attacking Bain Capital. I've researched character.
Running USA like a business is now a back-burner issue.
The voters are saying they want a Conservative as their Nominee.
>>> Romney would be wise to listen. [ED: Revelations 13:9]

Segment#10: There is a Florida NBC-debate tonight
>>> Plus, there are other things in the news we'll get to.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#11: Foxcom has 230,000 employees at just one site in China
(Music) Steven Tyler is Arrowsmith front-man and sang the national anthem to the NFC championship game. The game was the highest watched recently.
A one-parent of three making $14,500/yr is keeping more than a family making $60,000 ((Reading-Emerick)) Think about it! Many voters are going to find out that people making minimum wage have more discressionary money than they do.
www.zerohedge.com/article/entitlement-america-head-household-making-minimum-wage-has-more-disposable-income-family-mak The article is from 2010 and so is worse now under Obama.
Why aren't Apple products made in America where they have 43,000 employees in Cupertino CA? Jobs had a dinner and told Obama, "These jobs are never coming back, Mr President, and I don't understand why you can't do anything about it." The article leaves out that China does not have unions.
The primary provider is Foxcom and have 230,000 employees at one site in China. They live in dormatories where they work six hours a week, 12 hours a day, earning $17/day, and they are 'plum' jobs.
Here is an example about Steve Jobs: He had the newly developed iPhone in his pocket with his keys. The iPhone got scratched and so he demanded the surface be replaced within six weeks or he would not bring it to market. He found a company to do it. Regulations prevent rapid development in USA.
It makes no economic sense to ship back and forth to China. "We sell iPhones throughout the world. We don't have an obligation to the United States of America. We just make the best product for the best price."
In the 1930s, during the Great Depression, we built Boulder Dam in quick order.
8,000 industrial engineers were needed to oversee the 230,000 workers and they found them in nine days.
>>> That shows why the iPhone wouldn't happen in America, no unions.
"How the U.S. Lost Out on iPhone Work" [From The New York Times]

Segment#12: "Two if by Tea" is very popular
Some of you were shouting at the radio about the Chinese worker suicides. I know. Now they sign pledges to not commit suicide, and if they do, their families get the minimum.
Kathryn and I started a 'small business' with few staff members. It is now bigger than we expected and we don't know if we will 'go retail'. [Segway to Regus infomercial.]
< < < [ED: News includes Romney; and KFI includes a Gingrich ad.]
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#13: Can a candidate combine all the Conservative hot buttons?
Welcome back, folks. Understand that The New York Times attacks Apple. It is a 14-pg story.
There are two reasons for not putting Two-If-By-Tea on retail shelves. You lose control of the product and Liberals could put it on back shelves. Secondly, there are startup costs to cover the country with all of the flavors. We are deciding.
There is a Solyndra story: ((Reading: They threw parts into the dumpster, and needed to have a sale on forklifts. Solyndra still owes the German company that made them $8million and they just throw them away, approved by Obama.)) Nothing like this would happen in the private sector.
Here is a fear-mongering heath article in UK Daily Mail ((Reading: Heart failure occurs in the elderly when their heart is too weak to pump blood.)) Really? Who knew? Men over six feet are at lesser risk. Will there be UK stretching machines?
Caller-SC: I'm Catholic and Santorum came to our church. Avoid Communism.
Buy Mark Levin's Ameritopia. [Caller asks about start of Conservativism] LBJ ran an ad against Goldwater showing a block of wood being sawed in half on the ocean, "Lyndon Johnson believes in the whole country", and then there was the ad about a little girl watching an atomic bomb mushroom.
What would I do if I were Santorum? I would stop talking about myself.
Santorum is who he is, and so I hesitate to tell him. He has advisors to do that. He makes fun of Newt 'grandiosity' where I would be the Grandiosity. Newt is not catching fire — it is his message. He tells The Establishment that voters care about the Conservative message.
Look, there is something else (and it is a surface thing) and Newt comes off as 'smart'.
>>>>> I can't tell you how much that means to our side.
"There are so many factors that go into selecting our Nominee."
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#14: Rush Limbaugh will not be here tomorrow
Newsmax tells that the Charlie Crist advisors (who advised him to embrace Obama) are now advising Romney. We'll get into it tomorrow.
Mark Steyn will be substitute tomorrow and will tell you how Gingrich blew it [chuckle].
>>> Snerdley thinks I don't want to discuss the FL debate tonight.
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#15: Can Romney call in Bain Capital? They are turn-around artists
>>> I'll be back Wednesday and Mark Steyn will be here tomorrow.

From the Rush Limbaugh Morning Update: "Strike!"
Today residents of Fresno, California will get a taste of Greece, when Fresno County's largest labor union a government union, of course, goes on strike.
Some 4,100 government employees, union members all, will take to the streets. They'll do their best to disrupt public services for the next three days. Among the offices expected to be disrupted: the jail and juvenile hall, where corrections officers are expected to walk; public libraries; and administrative offices handling food stamps, welfare, and child support.
The trouble all began with a pay cut. Some union workers, instead of getting the axe, were subject to a 9 percent decrease, in order to balance the local budget. The union filed a labor complaint with California's Public Employee Relations Board, but that wasn't enough. SEIU, the Service Employees
International Union, representing the majority of the government's 6,000-strong labor force, is taking to the streets.
Most government workers make substantially more than the average taxpayer, the people who pay their salaries. But don't ask them, as Scott Walker did in Wisconsin, to contribute to their own benefits package! Don't ask them to help balance the budget instead of bankrupting the county as in Fresno!
If you do, you'll get a swift answer. It's the third finger in your face! These public sector unions feel entitled to bust the budget, rake in huge benefit and pension packages, while you pay for it all. YOU work for them; they don't work for you. And don't you forget it!

Quote Gems from Rush Limbaugh dot com:
"Let conservatism reign! Let it triumph! Just put it out there; articulate it passionately from the heart. It won't lose."
"You cannot shame the mainstream media. If any of you are thinking that the media learned a lesson -- if any of you believe that the media finally had it handed to 'em, if you believe that the media had their eyes opened and they are fully awake now and they understand what they're dealing with -- forget it."
"There's not one thing on this list in South Carolina that liberals can stomach: cockfights, NASCAR, football, military, grits, and jobs. And all of that is America, and the lib media hates it, resents it."
"When I say something about something, there's nothing left to be said about it, sort of unfair. If they put people on the phones after I've done my analysis, how can anybody possibly look good? It's not fair. It really isn't."
"I wonder how many people understand that union jobs are required? A portion of the jobs are required to be union jobs in the Keystone deal. I wonder how many union supporters of Obama understand that. I would bet not very many."
"We're looking at an abject failure with a chip on his shoulder that the media has coddled and babied and paved the way for; and now it's coming from across the spectrum how insane, how stupid, how dangerous, how damaging this decision is on the Keystone pipeline."
"There is unhappiness at the highest ranks of the Republican and conservative establishments here for a host of reasons, and the longer they can prolong this with no definite decisive winner, then the greater the odds, the greater the hope they can blow it all up and have a brokered convention, which is how conventions used to be, by the way."
"The environmental left's 'victory' is ultimately another loss for the American people -- especially the 13.1 million unemployed workers. It's a loss for small businesses, such as restaurants and hotels, in the towns along the proposed route."
"What nobody mentions here is that Obama's all-in on green energy. That's where the crony capitalism is, that's where his donors are being repaid."
"No matter what kind of shame you think they suffer in a contest like that -- no matter how much money they lose, no matter how many of them get fired, no matter how many magazines or TV stations or newspapers get shut down -- they are not gonna change. They are hard-core, leftist radicals right out of the White House. That's where they get their marching orders. That's why I call them the State-Controlled Media."

Today Barack Obama released a proclamation commemorating the 39th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, the low water mark of American constitutional jurisprudence since the Dred Scott case. Obama's proclamation was not widely noted, except in circles that take (as Scott put it long ago) the sacramental view of abortion. But I happened to read it, and was struck by this brazen bit of Obama BS: As we mark the 39th »

Today marks the 39th annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. As I note every year, it has become an annual ritual to watch the national media and liberal commentariat strain to ignore or marginalize the burgeoning movement of increasingly young and minority activists taking to the street to stand up for the unborn. ~~~

~~~ ~~~ ~~~ Gingrich's success here in South Carolina shows more than just skepticism toward establishment Republicanism. It also shows a hunger for real substance in the campaign, for a candidate who will talk to voters and give them more than phrases like "I believe in America." Mitt Romney's team of seasoned campaign professionals may not think Newt Gingrich has any business playing a deciding role in the race. But they better believe it, and they better take seriously what the Gingrich challenge represents -- before it's too late.
